I should really get over the feeling of knowing people personally that do rad things in places, or are meant to only exist ~in the internet~, but neither really rubs off.
It’s a constant feeling. I think half of it derives from me being the guy everyone always asks “How do you know such-and-such?” or “Hey we met aaaages ago!” or “I’ve seen you all over [insert name of some communication tool/social networking here]!”
In reality, a only have a small set of decent friends I can share life experiences, emotional problems, my views on others, etc. It just so happens that they are mixed upon different places. As such, I meet people from various places doing various things via them.
In addition, the gigging community of Sydney is incredibly small. I usually see the same people week-in-week-out. (This makes it hard to avoid douchebags you never want to see again.)
All that said, it’s still the strangest thing to see friends I never knew know each other, or realising a girl you’ve known for years is a ZOO Magazine cover model.
