Robert Schneider + Canvas Kits + Community Radio - 12th September: Hopetoun Hotel.
I wasn’t really interested in Canvas Kites or Community Radio and subsequently missed all of Community Radio and most of Canvas Kites. What i did catch wasn’t overly impressive where as the pizza I had put in a solid 4 star performance, so go figure.
Robert Schneider was pretty jovial and self deprecating the whole evening. He appeared late, apologising profusely for not being here with his awesome rock band and then proceeded to play a ramshackle set composed of pretty much whatever he could remember from the 200 songs (that is his projection) that he written. In saying that, the songs translated to an acoustic setting fairly well and Schneider’s demeanour throughout the set added an extra touch.
Highlights of the set included the Stephen Colbert song and surprisingly Energy, which is actually supposed to be a song to introduce Schneider’s son to the world of physics and science in general and as such is not as shit as it was before you knew that. The other highlight was that his awesome rock band The Apples in Stereo are touring Australia in 2010 (but we all know how many times we hear of tours that don’t go ahead…so lets not get too excited just yet).

He loves it here though. Speaking to him afterwards we tried to convince him to come out for either Golden Plains or Splendour (Any earlier would conflict with recording of the new album).
